Activities

When it comes to outdoor activities, Grungedal, makes for a perfect base camp as it’s only a short distance to the mountains. Bring your fishing equipment along and take advantage of the pristine mountain lakes. A simple boat for roing in the lake of Grungedal is available for our guests. And don’t forget your bathing suit because swimming amidst these majestic surroundings on a hot summer day is something you won’t forget!

The beach volleyball court is in disposition to all our guests. This is a great activity for all ages. It lies in the hillside with a magnificent view over Grungedal.

When it comes to hiking trips, the possibilities are endless. If you want to let the car to rest for a day, you can walk straight from the farm, get your heart pumping up in the hills, and enjoy the faboulus view on the top of the mountains. Enter the page www.ut.no for hiking inspirations in both summer and winter.

There are also several art and crafts exibitions in the area at summertime. Especially to be mentioned is the beautiful gallery of the famous painter Henrik Sørensen.

We also have a ping pong table for your family to enjoy at the farm after you get back from a fun day of hiking or walking.

But it’s not just in the summer that Grungedal is worth a trip. During the winter you can go cross country skiing and explore beautiful mountain trails. If you’re a fan of downhill skiing, it’s only a 25 minute drive to Haukelifjell Ski Resort, Rauland Alpine Resort, Rauland Ski Resort and Vierli Park Resort is a 45 minute ride away. Hovden Ski Resort along with many miles of cross coutry tracks is about 40 minutes ride. "Hovden Badeland" (Aqualand), an indoor swimming complex, also located in Hovden, is the perfect place to take a relaxing swim or soak your cold and weary limbs after a long day on the slopes. Also, there is plenty of space to play around in the snow, digging caves or building transparent snow cone lantern.

If you like the quiet and a more down to earth experience, there are plenty of marked skitrails in Hardangervidda and Telemark/Aust-Agder region. Pack your backpack with cocoa and some snack, and explore the mountains.

Either way, we welcome you to the mountains!
